The Pattenburg Rescue Squad is dedicated to the citizens of the greater Union Township area, part of that dedication is giving back to the communities in which we serve. We currently offer CPR instruction at both the "layperson" and healthcare professional levels as well as first aid courses. We have plenty of instructors that can accommodate a variety of class sizes and availability. If you would like to get in touch with our training coordinator in regards to scheduling a class or if there are other any classes in which you would like to see us teach please officers@pattenburgrescue.org
Why should you learn first aid?
Our bodies are susceptible to injuries, illnesses, and trauma. We never know when an injury may happen to us or those who are around us. Thus it is always good to have some amount of basic knowledge to take care of critical situations, to keep it from going from bad to worse or till the medical help arrives.
Administering first aid to victims in the event of accidents, mishaps and occurrences during office and school hours or in the case of an accident is encouraged. To do so one must know the basics and this knowledge is acquired by getting trained. Knowledge of first aid promotes a healthy, secure and safer environment, instills confidence amongst people, their families, colleagues, and associates. So there you have it, a few but very important reasons why YOU should learn basic first aid. Feeling up to the challenge?
Why Learn CPR?
Cardiac arrest – "an electrical malfunction in the heart that causes an irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia) and disrupts the flow of blood to the brain, lungs and other organs – is a leading cause of death. Each year, more than 350,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occur in the United States.
When a person has a cardiac arrest, survival depends on immediately getting CPR from someone nearby. CPR, especially if performed in the first few minutes of cardiac arrest, can double or triple a person’s chance of survival" (AHA 2017).
